Insect resistance and drought tolerance in forest trees

Group Leader: Prof John Mackay


Conifers have a range of physical and chemical defences against stem-piercing insects. Thus, the aim of my project is to profile Sitka spruce terpenes related to insect resistance and to carry out histological analyses to determine stone cell plenty and distribution in the cortex of Sitka spruce.
