Dr Stephen Harris
Agriculture and conservation.
I am a DPhil student with Dr Stephen Harris, and hold an Oxford-HDH Wills 1965 Charitable Trust Scholarship. Before joining Plant Sciences, I received a BA (Hons) in Biological Sciences (1st Class) from Oxford University. During my time as an undergraduate, I studied at UC Berkeley and the Australian National University under a Santander Scholarship.
My research focuses on optimising conservation in a functional, agricultural landscape. I am looking into how land management techniques affect the levels of plant diversity and the agricultural yield on English farmland, with my fieldwork based on the Ditchley Park Estate, Oxfordshire. I am particularly interested in the importance and effectiveness of agri-environment schemes, with respect to hedgerows and landscape heterogeneity.
