Research Areas

Phylogenetics, evolutionary ecology and conservation of CAM plant lineages in the spiny thicket of south west Madagascar.

Research Description

Using a combination of phylogenetic, fieldwork and statistical approaches, my DPhil aims to unravel the origins of spiny thicket plants and the abiotic and biotic factors underpinning their historical and current distribution across the south-west of Madagascar. I plan for my work to contribute to conservation prioritisation and management in this highly threatened and unique biome.
