What is the John Fell OUP Research Fund?
Oxford University Press is transferring £5m per annum to create the John Fell OUP Research Fund, which is named after John Fell, Dean of Christ Church, Vice-Chancellor (1666-9), Bishop of Oxford, and 'father' of the modern Press. The Fund is intended to foster creativity and a proactive approach to research opportunities in all subject areas, and particularly interdisciplinary fields. It will make seedcorn and start-up grants, and provide staff and funds to stimulate applications to external agencies. As the Fund is intended to complement external funding bodies, it will not duplicate the purposes of those bodies. The Fund was launched in February 2006. [from the Oxford University website]
