Europe’s changing woods and forests – understanding the past to prepare for the future

Since shortly after the last Ice Age people have been altering the extent and composition of Europe’s woods and forests as this new book shows. The woods will continue to evolve under changing climates and with new diseases threatening trees such as ash. Recognising past human impacts is essential if we are to conserve the legacies of the past while developing forests fit for the future.
