The impact of atmospheric nitrogen deposition on plant communities
Atmospheric nitrogen deposition is a pollutant that many people are not aware of. Nitrogen is frequently considered as a good thing for plants but acidification and eutrophication from atmospherically deposited nitrogen can have a negative impact on plants and soils. In the talk I will outline the results of UK, European and global research projects looking at the impacts of nitrogen on plant communities and explore how we can begin to make difference through reducing our nitrogen footprints.
